Three team leaders are selected for each level and will serve as the principle drafting and selecting agents for their teams level on Sept. 21st.
The Fall draft will identify the DCLL teams through April - with an expansion draft and trade held in January for the DCLL Winter season.
The Active players on a team's roster are both given a status as free agents as well as guaranteed playing time. Free agents are players on the non-competing teams who will be able to be selected by competing teams as a player for their game.
Active players will also be allowed to play up, but not down. (ie. A Junior player may be invited like a free agent to play up on Men's team as well as with play the Juniors).
Points are awarded to a team's score for player participation, goals, saves and wins at all levels. A teams cumulative score is tallied in an overall competition from April-March.
Thus, this is technically the longest lacrosse game in the world (1 year long).
There are three communities each team generally focuses around surrounding the Finish Strong Box Lacrosse Arena.
THE DCLL PLAYER FALL DRAFT - Sept. 21st Players will be drafted by Team's Leadership first based upon the virtue of their ability, then by the relationship they have with the team leaders, and finally by their community's association with the team.
The DCLL is a special structure that has been designed to mature over time. We have designed the league to increase player's speed of play and develop their defense and unique strengths. The adjusted box format we use is special to the DCLL and is a key in helping us accomplish this goal.
DCLL teams are currently competing in a year long competition that will continue through March 2011. The winning DCLL team will be invited join the Dupage County Representative team in competition in a select tournament in the summer of 2011

"Ben is a complete middie in the sense that he can play offense, defense, face off and scoop up ground balls in loose ball situations. He is primarily an offensive middie on our team, but I don't like taking him off the field at all because he is a physical and tough defender. Ben is so calm and patient in games. This has been shown by his consistent play in the 4 years on our Varsity team."

Final Comments about Kevin Epp for player of the year consideration: Kevin is not only a top notch athlete but a true competitor with a good leadership skills and a positive attitude. There are very few players, if any, who can say once that whistle blew they were going to out hustle, out smart out play Kevin. Every time Kevin stepped foot on the field he left everything he had to give. While being a tremendous competitor with a desire to win, Kevin was also able to maintain a very high left of good sportsmanship which in my opinion is a remarkable feat for a young man in high school. Kevin has committed to play lacrosse at West Point next year and I'm confident he will make a difference on their team over the next 4 years as he has done at Neuqua .

Kai Libby (MIDFIELD)(week 2, 7) PW-7, CM, +, POY, TI
Kai's contribution on the field as well as off the field are exemplary. While being an A-student, an All-Conference Football Player, and lead male in County theatrical productions, on the field Kai makes everyone else better and raises the level of play with whomever he plays lacrosse. However, it is his character that is his greatest attribute. While he he would love to play and could play in any area program, he has been dedicated to starting a year round high school lacrosse training academy (the Warrior Academy) that has formed into a prep opportunity to help area players develop their skills and their game. He has also, outside the team's own leaders, played a key role in helping to start a number of other area high school programs (Marmion, Bartlett & Aurora Eagles) and is helping St. Francis get their team going. This goes beyond hard work and skill, it has required humility, discipline, perseverance, servant hood and leadership and his efforts have resulted in the creation of teams and programs for area players that will continue to develop well beyond his high school years. He is not just a great example as a player, but is also a demonstration of what a player who is also a leader can accomplish in the community as well as on the field if he dedicates himself to the lives of the players whom he serves.

Box Lacrosse, The DCLL, Dupage County Representative Travel Teams & Complete Player Skills Training
BOX LACROSSE
What is Box Lacrosse?
Box Lacrosse is a faster paced form of lacrosse (played by team in the NLL). More similar to hockey than to soccer or football, which the 10 vs. 10 full field game more resembles. The clock is continual, there are five "runners" and a goalie (no long poles) and the ball must stay onside once it crosses half field.
Box lacrosse is played in a hockey styled arena, with boards and typically utilizes a smaller goal than the full field game. Players participating in Box lacrosse develop skill sets at a more aggressive pace due to the compact quality of play. As an exciting game to watch, Box lacrosse serves as both a great means of training essential lacrosse skills through a faster paced competition, as well as allows people interested in the game the opportunity to watch an exciting contest. Box lacrosse is the style of lacrosse competition that develops the strongest players in the world which are in Canada, where lacrosse is the National Sport.
What is Finish Strong?
The Finish Strong Sportsplex and Box Lacrosse Arena is located on Roosevelt Rd. in West Chicago and is the Dupage area's principle Box Lacrosse Arena and training center. As the first fully dedicated field facility in Illinios in support of the sport of lacrosse, Finish Strong also has the distinction of being the "place where teams start" and has supported the formation of virtually every lacrosse teams and program across the Dupage area.
The single performance arena at Finish Strong serves as the preferred venue for the DCLL Box Lacrosse Seasons as well as the future site of the Dupage Lacrosse Hall of Fame - where the story of players with a dream come to life.
The history of the teams, clubs, leaders, and coaches and the inspiration of lacrosse as it has developed through students building a vision for their school or area is being gathered to celebrate Dupage's 30th year of lacrosse. The Dupage Lacrosse Hall of fame will serve as the landmark of accomplishment and a reminder for the future emerging enthusiasts who might venture the task and develop the leadership and dedication to raise a lacrosse team to be the best it can be.

What is Dupage Lacrosse...
Training as in "Maryland"
Competing as in "Canada" Lacrosse's first "Fermi-lab" super-conductor of development
Combining fundamental commitment, enhanced speed of game
and leadership development in the Dupage Area's Players
To help develop confident young men,
Who will compete to change the world!
Dupage Lacrosse and the DCLL:
ORGANIZATIONAL MISSION:
To assist the development of City Club Organizations serving the Dupage Area that function in some or all seasons and competitive contexts of lacrosse and to support them by offering effective training programs, student leadership development and a vertical track of competition with the goal of developing the best skilled players and forming true representative teams which are capable of competing and representing our area's lacrosse community locally, nationally and internationally.
What is a Dupage City Club and the DCLL?
A City Club is a community based lacrosse club competing in one, several or all levels of lacrosse's competitive seasons in the Dupage Community Lacrosse League (DCLL).
Juniors - Male Players 15 or younger
Varsity - Male Players 15 - 18 years old
Prep – Male Players 17-20 years old
City - Male Players over 20 years of age
Girls Club – Female Players 8 - 18 years old
COMPETITIVE LACROSSE STYLES OF GAME:
BOX(Arena 6 vs 6 all short stick games with 5 field runners and a goalie)
SHORT FIELD(Outdoor or Indoor: 8 vs.8 or 7 vs.7 game format with 3 middys and either 1 or 2 long pole defensive and attack players).
FULL FIELD(10 vs.10 full field games played on a 110 x 60 yard field)
3 ON 3 (Tournament Style - 3 man teams competing on shortened field with/or without goalies)
TRADITIONAL (Indian Honor game – with no pads, no limits of players or field – a Native American Honor game usually played by invitation only)
What is a Vertical Paradigm of Competition?
In Dupage Lacrosse: Players can play up if they are able to compete, but they can't play down. This is part of the "Vertical" paradigm. However, like Hockey or travel soccer the other part is to support continual club development and every higher levels of competition within City or Community contexts. This is different than in school structures, which operate in "horizontal" paradigms that are structured to maintain parody rather than supporting and developing the best in the athlete through increased competition.
BOX GAME ARENA: -Dupage Box Lacrosse Games are held at the Finish Strong Sportsplex, Arena & Training Center on Roosevelt Rd. in West Chicago (just west of Rte. 59 - behind the Ford Dealership).

Foundations of Lacrosse in Dupage since 1980
Lacrosse in the Dupage Area started at WheatonCollege in 1980:
The equation was simple – two players had a dream to start a lacrosse team together. They shared it
with their friends. Their parents choose to encourage their dream and they started practicing;
without a coach, without money, without a field, without support from anyone except those who
recognized that they had a dream. This is the story of each of the now nearly 40 teams in the Dupage
area and it will be told in full over this next year on www.dupagelacrosse.com and at the Finish Strong
Sportplex and Box Arena and celebrated in the Wheaton Parade in 2010 for the 30 year anniversary of Lacrosse in the Dupage Area, as well as in association with the Brave New World and Dupage Student Film Project in 2010.

Sat. Aug. 23rd - DUPAGE RANGERS 10, WINDY CITY 11 (OT)
DUPAGE COUNTY - TEAM GOALS:
The goal of the Dupage U15, U17 and U19 teams will be to compete in summer and fall tournaments, prepare players for collegiate play, compete with other quality travel teams and ultimately qualify the County teams for National tournaments, specifically the National Club tournament in January of 2010.
We will also be developing a Dupage County U13 Team over the summer structured in a similar manner to the U15 team with an emphasis on developing sound fundamental skills in each participating player.
The goal of the Collegiate and Post Collegiate teams will be to develop two teams that can compete at a National and International level with the Dupage Rangers -targeting a trip to Europe this next year in the Summer of 2010.
Each Dupage County team will have a 40 active player roster for invitation to target tournament and competitive events.
These rosters will serve as the official roster for the July 2009-July 2010 tournament season and are what is submitted over the next year for any tournament participation by a Dupage team at the level of competition.
Each rosters will have a cap of 40 players. Players can play on other teams but will need to maintain a minimal participation standard for continued inclusion on the roster. Players not meeting the minimal participation requirements will forfeit their spot.
Players will not need to attend every tournament, but each player will need to be on the Team Roster to compete in the tournaments as a Dupage Team member.
Dupage Players will be invited to participate in the Box Games on Wednesdays at 7:00 (Varsity 15-20) and 8:30 (City - post 20)PM at the Finish Strong Arena.
Dupage U17, U19, Collegiate and Post Collegiate players will be invited to compete with the Dupage Rangers in scheduled weekend games in the summer and fall.

Rangers drop first County Game in a classic contest with ChampaignCounty
It was a bright day for Champaign who made their 3 hour trip worthwhile with a dramatic first win over the Dupage Rangers 14-11 in Illinois' first County vs. County contest. Former Highland Park standout Jeff Davis (5 goals, 1 assist) led Champaign with a 5 goal run between the 2nd and 3rd quarters to open up a half time 6-6 tie. Champaign had jumped up 5-1 in the first, but Dupage wasable to answer with pairs of goals by former area high school star’s Neil Duffy of Wheaton Warrenville South (2 goals) and NeuquaValley’s Eric Carroll (4 goals). But Davis’ teammates Matt Ready (3 goals), Dan Dudley (2 goals, 1 assist) and Tanner Houston (2 goals) were able to take charge in the fourth quarter to give Champaign the edge for good. Dupage’s stand in goalie Chris Weed (13 saves) anchored the defense with poles Matt Baker, Mike Steichen and Nick Lenzi while Jason Ballou (1goal), Kai Libby (1 goal, 1 assist), Scott Menzer (1 goal) and Andrew Servey (1 goal) complimented the efforts of Duffy and Carroll for the Rangers.
The Wheaton Thunder defeats the Dupage Rangers 10-7 for first time outdoors: Sat.Nov. 8th the Wheaton College Thunder worked out from under a 6-3deficit to defeat the Dupage Rangers Saturday morning 10-7 at Wheaton's Bean Stadium. Dupage jumped out to a 2-1 first quarter lead as former WWS standouts Neil Duffy (2 g, 1A) and Scott Mezner (4 g) took control of the game from midfield. By half the lead had lengthened to 6-3 with Wheaton's only response coming from two driving goals from face Middy Steve Nelson (3g)(Farmington H.S. CT) and one from attackman Dave Sneddon (4g) (St. Peter and Paul H.S. - Centerville, MA). But in thesecond half Wheaton controlled the balland settled it down with attack talent Gordie Zimmerman(2g, 2a) (WestonHS, CT) and team Captain Matt Morgan(1g, 2a) (Moorestown Friends School, NJ) taking charge of the Wheaton offense. Dupage's short bench contributed to Wheaton's 7-1 second halfrun, but Face Middys Steve Nelson and Luke Rabelhofer (1a) (St.Charles N) really controlled the middle of the field and managed to shutdown the Dupage midfield scoring threats of Kai Libby, Mezner and Duffy. Todd Nana (1g, 2a) and Vince Trombetta (1a) also contributed tothe Rangers scoring. Dupage's Goalie Chris Labosco registered 9 saves while Wheaton's goalies Tim Vanderpoel (5 saves) (Trinity Christian HS -Oakton,VA) and Drew Isaacson (4 saves) (Charollette Latin HS, NC) insured the win for Wheaton.

What Are Coaches looking for today from players wanting to play in college?
Congratulations TI-North Varsity and TI-West JV in Dicks National Tournament of Champions
There were many reasons why high school lacrosse teams from all over North America ventured into Tampa the weekend of (January 4th-6th, 2008) to compete in the Dick’s Sporting Goods Tournament of Champions. Some wanted greater exposure, others wanted to give their boys a reward for working hard in the summer, but what was consistent amongst them all was that each team earned the right to be there and compete for a National Trophy and Title by finishing in the top three of at least one of the qualifying tournaments held throughout the country this past summer and fall.
Amongst the contestants were two Illinois teams that gained the right to go and embraced the rigor needed to get therewith the help of Lacrosse America, the Team Illinois North Varsity and Team Illinois West JV sponsor.
TI North won the Notre Dame Challenge early in the summer,an Elite U19 qualifying event while TI-West took the Chicago Challenge as well as placed third in the Notre Dame Challenge, both qualifying them to compete at the U17 level of the Championship Tournament in Tampa.
Lacrosse America has been sponsoring the TI teams for many years now, running tryouts in the summer to assemble talented players from all over the state to compete in summer tournaments that attract college coaches. But this was the first year that two distinct teams were assembled; Team Illinois West and North at both the Varsity –U19 and JV-U17 levels, as well as the first year they went on toplay in the Tournament of Champions in Tampa.
Ironically, the TI-West teams’ journey started this same weekend a year ago, where following The 3 on 3 vs. The Machine Exhibition Event in support of Peace Lacrosse the World held at the Finish Strong Sportsplex on January 6th, the Dupage Conferences participated in a new initiative called the Advancement Program where about 70 of the area’s best players at both levels from all the conference schools were identified and selected to try out for a 25 man list at each level and the be the prototype class through the program. The players were tested and evaluated by the area coaches and then selected to practice together for 5 weeks indoors, congealing especially the JV unit into what would become the core of TI-West JV team.
Other players who made the Advancement Program went on to tryout and play for the Midwest Lacrosse Club Team that traveled and competed well in the Vail shootout last summer with area Coaches Andy Thompson (St. Charles), Paul Stolzer (Benet) and Dave Bassett (Naperville Central/Waubonsie Valley).
At the Tournament of Champions in Tampa the TI-West JV concluded their 3 tournament 18 game quest with a crushing 11-2 defeat of the Tampa Tribe in the Championship Final, placing an exclamation point on a 17-1 run of games through the summer and concluding at the Dicks Tournament of Champions, making a statement of the rising potential developing in the Dupage area as well as in the state of Illinois.
Coaches Mike Black (Lacrosse America Rep for the West) and Mark Colello (Neuqua Valley) believed in and lobbied for the opportunity for the team to compete, and their efforts paid off as they along with Zach Gagle, Gary Hoppe and Doug Conley (Lacrosse America Coaches) brought the two teams to Tampa to represent Illinois against some of the continents best high school players.
The Green Turtles, a powerhouse team from Baltimore was there as well as the Connecticut Hurricanes, Team Colorado,Team Arizona, Team Carolina, Headstrong, an All Star team from Pennsylvania, 2 Knights from New Jersey, the Edge from Ontario and Central New York’s All star Roadhawks amongst others. But surprisingly the Varsity level wasn’t won by any team on the East Coast or even by any assembled state All-Star team.Instead it was The New Westminster Salmonbellies, a team from British Columbia, Canada that played together since they were kids that took the Varsity Championship Trophy home with them in a 7-5 victory over Headstrong in the finals, emphasizing the value team cohesion has in this game.
Team Illinois North finished with wins against the Palm Beach Storm, LB3 from Philadelphia, the St. Louis Samurai and the Miami Makos, but couldn’t get past an extremely talented Roadhawks team and lost a close heart breaker 7-6 to the Green Turtles, the varsity compliment to the only JV team to hand TI-West a Defeat in the Semi-finals at the Notre Dame Challenge in the summer.
North’s Highlight game was a come from behind 7-6 win over the Storm were the team exerted great ball control and solid defense, running out the last two minutes of the clock to preserve the victory according to Coach Gagle.“We were down in the second half and fought back, made good decisions and stiffened up on D!”
The loss to the NY Roadhawks sent TI-North into the 9thplace bracket and a tough 7-6 loss to the Turtles pitted them against the Lyon Banks Team from Philli for their final match-up, which they won 7-5 to give TI North a winning weekend.
TI-West varsity players Sean Brogan, Tyler Hines, and Madden Titus from St. Charles along with Jack Buckley from Oak Park were invited to join the Summer’s TI-North Varsity team comprised of Jordan Blazer, Ryan Brennan, Dan Dickson, Tyler Hall, Matthew Harris, Pat Marquard, Trevor Synek, Tom Piazzi, Austin Powell, Jarrid Puzes, Joe Schlesinger, Ryan Werhane, Bill Wildmer, Lance Yapor, Andrew Belville, and Zach Nisson.
Perhaps we can all share a certain excitement about TI-West’s accomplishment that may suggest a change is in the air. “It was a National Championship Tournament that wasn’t won by an east coast team at either level”observed one of the participants.
TI-West coaches Black and Colello emphasized control and respect for the game. “We spread the ball well on offense, stuck together and played our game!” observed Black, “and by the final game our defense was terrifying to our opponent!”
Perennial lacrosse legend Gary Gait presented the team with their medals and the Championship Trophy and the team presented Coach Black with the Gator Aid dousing.
When asked about what he looks forward to, Black commented that he is glad the team was able to represent the state well and that he looks forward to many of these guys competing at the next level.

Carthage to go D3 in 2009
Former Dupage Coach Dave Neff (Neuqua Valley & St. Charles) has taken the Head Coaching job for Carthage College and will be helping the school launch the area's first Division III Lacrosse Program in 2009. This is an exciting development for the sport of lacrosse, the CCIW (the Conference Wheaton, Augustana and Carthage are all in) and a promising opportunity for every lacrosse player in the area.
Beloved coach Heads to Hinsdale Central
Coach Vic, the much loved coach who founded and built the program at Wheaton Warrenville South, has taken the head coaching position at Hinsdale Central. The Dupage Conference teams and coaches will miss his dedication and leadership and we all wish him the very best in 2008.
